Depending on which item you mentioned, he takes you to the appropriate shop, leaves you and the shop owner to reach an agreement and later collects a commission for being the one who linked up the two of you.

A similar mode of doing business applies on the internet.

On the internet, the website is the equivalent of a shop. Affiliate marketers are the equivalent of this soliciting marketer.
